Music Mondays: Adele

Adele is a English singer, songwriter, and musician. She was born on May 5, 1988. I love Adele so much she’s one of my favorite artists. I admire her so much. She’s simply beautiful, strong, amazing and talented. Her songs are so touching that it sometimes gives me the goosebumps. She’s a humble person and a gifted vocalist, a combination that is rare to see in today’s singers. I especially love how she is able to articulate all her feelings into one single song. Although all her songs generally seem to be about pain and heartbreak, she does a magnificent job in getting her message across in each of them. You can feel her pain and almost relate to it too. Some of my favorite songs are Someone Like You, Don’t You Remember, Rolling In The Deep, Chasing Pavements, Hometown Glory, Turning Tables, and Rumour Has It.

Music Mondays: Matisyahu

Matisyahu is a talented American musician. He was born in West Chester, Pennsylvania as Matthew Paul Miller. He was brought up a Reconstructionist Jew, much of his music revolves around his Jewish faith. I would describe his music as a blend of reggae, rock and hip hop. The lyrics to his songs are deep and inspirational and they often carry a message. Two of my favorite songs from Matisyahu are Sunshine and King Without a Crown. If you’ve never heard of Matisyahu, read more about him here.

Music: Emeli Sandé

Emeli Sandé, is a talented Scottish songwriter and recording artist. She has written a number of songs for well known artists such as Leona Lewis, Tinie Tempah, and even Britain’s Got Talent contestant/singer Susan Boyle! Aside from music, Emile also has an interest in medicine. She studied medicine at the University of Glasgow, one of her songs titled, My Kind of Love was actually inspired from her studies in medicine. Emile states, “During my time studying medicine, I found it hard to write, but one of the things that inspired me were the patients and the interaction that they had with their loved ones during their time of illness. When people arrived at the hospital, money and status became irrelevant and only health mattered, which sparked an honesty between people which was amazing. This interaction, declaration of support and love, was the inspiration…”

Music: Olly Murs

Olly Murs is a talented English singer, musician, song writer and TV presenter. Olly Murs quickly became famous after finishing up as a runner-up for X-Factor in 2009, in the sixth series. One of my favorite tunes from Olly Murs this summer, is Heart Skips A Beat ft. Chiddy Bang. It literally has been on repeat on my Zune for some time now, that’s how obsessed I am ahaha. I also love the beat to this song, it has a dance, reggae, old school feeling to it. Even though I love this song, am not sure if I love the video since it really doesn’t correlate with the lyrics but Olly Murs sure makes up for it in this video with his charm and quirky sense of humor..check it out!

Music: Coldplay

One of my all time favorite bands is Coldplay. I became obsessed with them when I was in middle school (7th grade to be precise). I remember vividly that it was 7th grade, because my Earth Science professor would play the band’s songs nonstop during class. My favorite song by them is Clocks.

Music: Uffie

Uffie is a Paris-based underground electronic musician, rapper, fashion designer, DJ and songwriter. Phew, talk about being talented sounds like she’s a multi-tasker. I first heard Uffie’s music on Tumblr. My favorite song by Uffie is First Love.  If you’ve never heard of Uffie, read more about her here.
